2025 Nimonik Product Roadmap

The 2025 Nimonik Roadmap for product development is focused on three core elements:

  1. Integration of Industry Standards into the NimonikApp platform
  2. Ease of Use Improvements
  3. System Upgrades and Security Improvements

Integration of Industry Standards into the NimonikApp Platform

A number of improvements will be made to the way standards are handled, including:

  • Adding download limits
  • Implementing simultaneous user restriction
  • Introducing redline comparison across standards whenever possible
  • Search of full text of standards
  • Addition of standards and their meta-data to the platform
  • AI Chatbot will be introduced to standards at the discretion of SDOs
  • Nimonik will capture and display information about standards usage within accounts, including downloads, views per user, bounces due to simultaneous view restrictions

This section of our roadmap is expected to consume 25% of our technical team’s capacity.

Ease of Use Improvements

This section of our product roadmap is focused on improving the user experience and driving more value for our customers. This section is flexible and will have items added to it based on customer feedback, design decisions and unexpected events. Our high level priorities for 2025 are as follows:

  1. Improve the experience of uploading and managing internal documents
  2. Improve our search to ensure it uses the full text of the documents
  3. Offer redline comparisons of standards and regulatory documents whenever possible and versions of regulatory data in consolidated jurisdictions
  4. Improve our Clause Level Compliance Obligations interface for faster identifications and processing of requirements
  5. Incorporate AI into select parts of the software application to accelerate discovery of relevant documents and requirements and their management (stronger search, automatic identification of requirements, creation of action items, audit finding writing,…)
  6. Improved Auditing experience including more flexibility and conversion of clause level obligations into audit templates
  7. Improvements to the registers for navigating large sets of documents
  8. Nimonik will simplify the way in which document versions are shown
  9. Library Updates Report upgrades
  10. Miscellaneous other requests from customers

This section of our roadmap is expected to consume 50% of our technical team’s capacity.

System Upgrades and Security Improvements

  • Nimonik will upgrade its application from Ruby on Rails 6 to Ruby on Rails 7. This will require the upgrade of a number of subsystems and dependencies, including internal APIs and various toolkits.
  • Upgrade Puppet to Ansible
  • Nimonik will close out any remaining addressable items from its penetration tests.
  • Various bug fixes and performance upgrades
  • Nimonik will optimize its infrastructure to ensure scalability, stability and that it meets its service level agreements with all customers at all times.

This section of our roadmap is expected to consume 25% of our technical team’s capacity.

2026 Roadmap and Beyond

Below is a list of potential improvements beyond 2025 that Nimonik is planning to build:

  • Integrate the subscription platform with the standards store to allow for tracking of one-time purchases of standards
  • Expansion of regulatory chatbot to new jurisdictions
  • Flexibility in the assessment tools
  • Nimonik will highlight the standards referenced within regulatory documents, and allow users to quickly navigate to them
  • Further use of AI for improved user experience

Coming in 2024

  • Redline functionality for standards – Users will be able to compare current and previous versions of standards
  • Allow users to reorder columns on CO page: Users will be able to show hide and reorder ALL columns in their registers
  • Overwrite attachment type custom fields – The overwrite child clause feature will be expanded to improve attachment type custom fields
  • Email alerts for closure of document and clause review actions (External Actions) – Users will be able to choose to receive email confirmations when document and clause actions assigned to them or their teams are closed
  • Status update digest – Users will be able to choose to receive a weekly email summary of all of the documents they are responsible for that have had their status change

November 2024

  • Improved email alerts for account renewals – Email content has been updated for clarity
  • Text wrapping for assessment column – For long assessment titles, text will now wrap instead of spilling into adjacent column
  • Minimum versions for mobile applications – Nimonik can now enforce minimum versions to ensure that all customer applications are updated when important changes and security patches are released
  • Maintenance, and security tasks
  • Various minor bug fixes

October 2024

  • Add tracking information to library page – A new tracked column has been added that allows users to see the number of copies of each document that are currently being tracked in the account. Clicking on the values in this column brings users to the new ‘Tracking’ page, which allows them to see a detailed overview of where documents are being tracked
  • Overwrite child clauses – Users can now select clauses in parent documents and update child clauses so that the following fields match:
    • Assessment
    • Tracked status
    • Custom fields that are present in both parent and child registers
      • Note: Attachment fields can not currently be overwritten
  • Set minimum width for clause text column – In order to prevent the column from becoming compressed in registers with many custom fields, a minimum width was put in place
  • Prevent restricted users from deleting documents in registers – These users will still  be able to view and update document, but can no longer delete them
  • Improvements to accelerate account deployment for new standards customers
  • Various bug fixes

September 2024

  • Improve the appearance of view standards page – A number of changes have been made to reduce clutter on the page that allows users to view their standards ad a PDF
  • Improve appearance of library page – A number of cosmetic changes including the movement and redesign of buttons have been made to the library page
  • Allow users to set Library Updates Report email to filter by Essential Documents – Users can adjust this on the edit my profile page
  • Adjust CLCO search to prioritize clause number – Results will now be prioritized as follows:
    1. Clause number
    2. Clause text, text type custom fields
  • Add an Industry Filter to the Library Updates Report – Users can now filter the report by industrial sector
  • Add select all statuses in status option on legislation clause report – This status can be used to allow users to quickly see results for all assessment options in this report
  • Maintenance, and security tasks
  • Various minor bug fixes

August 2024

  • Library Updates Report Newsletter Improvements – In addition to formatting improvements in both the web and email report, Nimonik The now allows users to filter their monthly email by (details here):
    • Industry Sectors
    • Document Status
    • Topics
    • Essential Documents
  • Search Improvements – Users can now expect search to return more relevant results
  • Library Improvements – A number of improvements have been made to the library page, including
    • The introduction of ‘lock’ icon to indicate standard availability (details here)
      • These icons have also been added to the CO page
    • Resizing columns for better visibility
    • Improving the appearance of buttons
  • Add EU and Quebec regulatory data to chatbot
  • Maintenance, and security tasks
  • Various minor bug fixes

July 2024

  • Compliance Dashboard: A dashboard for tracking updates, completed assessments, controls, concordance and compliance gaps.
  • Read standards on mobile applications (iOS and Android)
  • Support Chatbot – ask our support chatbot questions about the application and its usage
  • Regulatory Chatbot – addition of Ontario jurisdiction to the regulatory Chatbot
